Although the clay pots of dye look amazing and similar to an artist’s paint palette, you may be surprised to know that they also contain a mixture of pigeon poop and cows urine!
That’s right, all those beautiful leather products you see around the market require some pretty nasty ingredients to make. Take a sprig of mint if you’re sensitive to smells, but you’ll actually get used to it within a few minutes.
Before you visit, you should know that these tanneries attract a lot of scams and unofficial ‘guides’ who will approach you. They will offer to take you inside a shop to look at the tanneries. Unfortunately, you can’t really see the tanneries from above without entering one of these shops.
This is normal but I would have an idea in mind of what shop you would like to go inside to get a great view. Both the shops of Number 10 and 64 have amazing views! So, when you approach Fes El Bali try to look for one of those numbers on the wall.
You should expect to pay around 20-50 MAD (£5) for a tour of the tanneries. Any more and it’s too much. Stay firm and if they get aggressive and try and force you to buy leather products, just leave.

Take care as you may meet hustlers on the bus, train, or outside the airport. They often claim they are from the Tourist Office, they are international business people, or that they work for the hostel, etc. Politely answer "La, shockrun" [No, thank you] and ignore them.
We advise u to not mention Dar el yasmine to them, as some hustlers will call their friends to wait for you on the other side, and pose as staff from Dar el yasmine then take you to another guesthouse.

Questo è l’accesso al quartiere conosciuto come la Kasbah degli Oudaya, una zona dove predomina la calce e l’azzurro delle facciate. Questo ricorda abbastanza paesi marocchini come Chefchaouen e Asilah. Riceve questo nome dalla tribù araba Udaya, che stanziò nel XIII proteggendo la città.

Attraversando la porta che troviamo al fondo del bar, sfoceremo nel Giardino degli Andalusi che ti ricorderà l’Alcazar di Siviglia con la fresca ombra degli aranci, le fontane e muri rossicci.
Uscendo dai giardini si entrerà nuovamente nella Medina per la suddetta via Consuls sino a Souika, dove si potrà salutare il centro storico uscendo dalla porta Bab Chellah.

Beh le terrazze del Nomad sono molto rinomate e tra i posti dove mangiare a Marrakech, questo è sempre nella parte alta della classifica. L’ideale sarebbe andarci alla sera, ma noi siamo capitati di giorno e senza prenotazione. Se arrivi entro la mezza riuscirai ugualmente a sederti, ma ti consiglio di prenotare.
La vista è molto bella, sulla piccola piazzetta delle spezie, la mia preferita.
Nomad (Address: 1 Derb Aarjane)
Gorgeous design, a fabulous atmosphere and modern Moroccan fare have made Nomad the “it spot” for travelers to Marrakech. On the rooftop, in-the-know guests can watch the sun go down over the Rahba Lakdima spice market below. If seats on the top floor aren’t available, don’t worry: Every last detail of Nomad’s other three stories is impeccable and deserving of a photo or two.
Compared to other Marrakech eateries, prices are higher here and at Nomad’s sister restaurant, Le Jardin, but it’s worth sparing the extra dirham (Moroccan currency) for the restaurants’ ambiance and delectable, prettily plated dishes. Of note from the diverse menu are the Nomad burger (spiced lamb burger with eggplant, caramelized onion and harissa mayonnaise); the courgette (zucchini) and feta fritters with a mint-yogurt sauce; and the saffron-scented Moroccan date cake with whipped cream and a salted caramel sauce.
Nomad is open every day from noon to 11 p.m. Reservations should be made in advance for time slots that start at noon, 2 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
